As I am sure most of you have noticed, Hailey does not talk much - or really at all. This week we had a speech and language evaluation done at the house, then went into the center for some health and hearing tests. She seems to be normal in all areas except speech where she scored basically 0 points on the test. So, her score qualifies her for speech therapy, and the most exciting part is that the therapists come out to our house (hurray!) So, I will be posting Hailey's new words here on the blog, so that when she starts talking we can all encourage her by asking her to say words that she knows!
Just a quick note to all the moms - if you think that there is a problem with your child don't be hesitant to start asking questions. This whole thing came about because Dr. Simmons (our pediatrican) was concerned that she wasn't talking, then I was talking to my mom about it and she mentioned that there is a speech therapist at the local elementary school. So me and the kids dropped in, where she referred me to the Jordan Valley Child Development Center where they provide all sorts of services (i.e. music therapy, speech therapy, all sorts of stuff for developmental delays). The best part is that alot of there services are done at your own home, and the fees are based upon income, and alot of their patients they see for free! I was really relieved to realize that there is a system in place to catch these types of problems early on, so that Hailey doesn't have the keep struggle with this!

My dearest Hailey,
I'll pay you a thousand dollars if your first word is "Grandma"
OOh, but "Nana" is easier! $1005! Ha ha. Welcome to the blog world, Megan. It's very cute and it will be fun to keep up on all the events.
welcome welcome! I was totally against blogs, but now I think they are great. It's a great addition to the family website too! I'll be checking for new posts!
Oh ladies...as far as I understand... she's already got a way to say my name, maybe just an audible sound...but nonetheless...something she says when she would walk past the picture! Right, Daddy Matt?
I'm glad that you're able to find help for her...good to know, if you look, there are programs to help your children succeed!
