I love living in Utah
I have decided that for all of its pitfalls, I still love living in Utah! Last Sunday we, at the last minute, decided to head up the canyon for dinner. We just needed to get out of the house, and the sun was shining, so off we went. We found a picnic spot, lit up a fire, and threw some hot dogs on sticks for the kids. Jacob discovered that he loves to cook his own hot dogs over the open flame and proceeded to eat 3 hot dogs (without buns)! I also came to a stark realization of how much 'boys just need to be boys' Jacob's first and only instinct was to climb right up the mountain and dig in the dirt and pick up bugs and throw things in the fire. And of course, my first instinct was to try to keep his hands clean, to leave the bugs alone, and to sit with your legs in front of you while trying to eat dinner. What a learning curve this parenting thing has!

THat looks like so much fun! I miss living in Provo and being just a short drive's away from the canyon! I love reading your blog and all of your tips on the side and seeing pictures of your cute kids!
Look out, this hot dog thing just gets worse. On the boys campout they at 5-6 hotdogs each! With buns! The food budget is on the rise!
That looks like fun, you have inspired me to try to let my boys go up the canyon and get dirty.
Megan,
