So, the pictures posted below would paint a nice and fun picture of a quaint day of fishing with the kids right. . . .Oh, you could not be more confused! To give the brief version, the good part was that each kid did catch a fish. Then the trouble started . . . . a freak windstorm came through and threw camping chairs in the fire, our portable shade (used only 1nce before this occasion) was thrown into the lake with the legs bent beyond repair, half-cooked hotdogs on sticks, children screaming and freaking out from the dust in their eyes and the wind strong enough to practically pick them up, stuff flying everywhere off the picnic table, Matt in the lake trying to retrieve the shade, Jacob standing by the lake holding a half-gutted fish and a knife watching Matt trying to retrieve the shade, me throwing children into the car . . . yeah . . . it was great! We ended up eating dinner at 9:45 at Artic Circle!

Life doesn't get much better than this for Jacob:

Putting a worm on the hook:

Jacob's fish (he is trying to hold it still and smile at the same time):

Dad and Hailey reeling in her fish:

She would stand be her fish, but was not about to actually touch it:

(This is my favorite picture) Bryce reels in his fish:

Bryce was all about grabbing the wriggling fish:

Wow--what a storm! You will always remember that trip! Bryce is so cute by his wiggly fish. I'm impressed he wanted to touch it.

you're right, the pictures don't tell the whole story, but what a memory!

The calm before the storm. What an event!
